In a special morning game, the Toledo Walleye defeated the Kalamazoo Wings 5-4 in overtime at the Lucas County Arena today. It was the second-consecutive game between the Walleye and the Wings, with the Walleye defeating the Wings on Saturday as well to give them their first loss of the season.
After changing out of their unique McDonald's warm-up jerseys, the Kalamazoo Wings opened the scoring, just over one minute into play. Sal Peralta took a shot, which was stopped by Walleye goaltender Alec Richards, but Peralta scored on the rebound, putting the Wings up 1-0.
A Walleye turnover led to the second Wings' goal, as Mathieu Curadeau connected for his fifth goal of the season on a pass from Rick Cleaver. Toledo answered right back, with Jonathan Carlsson putting the puck in the net just under 20 seconds later. It was his first professional shot and first professional goal of his young North-American career.
